Clarinetist

François Sauzeau starts his musical studies with Yves Didier, then joins the Paris Conservatoire where he is unanimously awarded with two First Prizes. He then becomes Grenoble Ensemble Instrumental solo clarinet and, in 1984, the ONL (Lyon National Orchestra) solo clarinet, where he plays under the artistic direction of Serge Baudo, Alain Lombard, Kurt Sanderling, Raphael Frubeck de Burgos, Eliahu Inba, Leonard Slatkin...

Passionate about contemporary music, he creates a piccolo opera, "Awatsihu", in 2010. Two years later, he creates MacBeth with the Lyon Opéra-Théâtre. He also works with Luciano Berio and Olivier Messiaen and creates Guillaume Connesson clarinet concerto in Lyon.

François Sauzeau privileges human encounter within concerts, working with many great artists such as Elysée, Debussy, Ardeo and Akilone quartets, Alain Meunier, Anne Lebozec, Christian Ivaldi, Elisabeth Rigollet, Jean-Claude Pennetier and Joseph Sylverstein, David Grimal, Dana Ciocarlie, Lars Vogt, Heinrich Schiff...
